Data and evidence policy
How EquipSignal sources information, what it will and will not assert, and how errors are corrected.
Sources
EquipSignal's automatic collector uses official Find a Tender, Contracts Finder and Public Contracts Scotland notices, plus selected Planning Data records from participating English authorities. Planning coverage is limited and is not described as a comprehensive UK planning search. Other public-source records may be added only after verification and are identified by their actual publisher. Every opportunity record stores the source type, title, publisher, URL, publication date and retrieval date.
Separation of fact and analysis
Each record separates three things: sourced facts that can be traced to a published source; EquipSignal analysis, which is our judgement about equipment relevance, timing and commercial scale; and unavailable information, which is recorded as unavailable rather than estimated.
Verification
Site, operator, timing and source are checked before a record can be approved. Records that cannot be verified are either held in research, placed on the watchlist, or rejected.
Contact data
Contact records hold business contact information from public sources only, with the source URL stored alongside. Contact details and source extracts are never exposed to anonymous website visitors.
Public counts
The area checker returns aggregate totals only, drawn from records that are approved, graded A or B, flagged for inclusion in public counts and still within their active period. No identifying detail is returned.
Corrections
If you are named in a record and believe it is inaccurate, contact EquipSignal and the record will be re-checked against its source and corrected, annotated or withdrawn as appropriate.
